Application process


  • Applications for intake September 2020 are currently closed
  • Register here for intake September 2021 (note that applications will only open in October 2020)
  • Complete the online application
  • Await your result from
  • Make sure you are able to send us your legalized documents (legalize your documents on beforehand!)

You will need a pdf of your: passport, CV, Diploma (or certificate of enrolment), Transcript of records, Motivation letter & 2 reference letters.

Scholarship-seeking students: we need a complete file at scholarship selection time (otherwise: not eligible for a scholarship!), thus:

  • You must submit a BSc-diploma + Transcript of Records, in English, translated by sworn translator or by your University before March 1. Minimally the Transcript of Records is needed.
  • Your language certificate (if needed, check here) must be submitted before March 1.

Students that do not apply for a scholarship: we need a complete file at enrolment time, thus

  • If you are graduating in the summer you can also apply with a certificate of graduation/certificate of enrollment.
  • Your language certificate (if needed, check here) must be submitted before September 1.

Scholarship results & admission results will be communicated before April 1st 

Students need to legalize (see below) their documents before  April 1st, please do not send us your documents before you receive a request to send your documents.

We will request to send your documents on April 1st if you are selected for a scholarship or to participate in IMSOGLO, these documents have to arrive by the deadline of April 15th, no later.

How to legalize your documents:

Original legalization seal (see below) on an English copy of your transcript and diploma (legalize as one bundle), no exceptions are allowed. No copies of documents with copies of the seal. We need the document with the original legalization seal/apostille.

The application for the IMSOGLO programme is processed through the application portal of Ghent University and Embedded in the International Training Centre of the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering at Ghent University.

Information about legalization of your diploma

Different countries need different legalizations (list of legalizations per country)

We accept no exceptions due to fraud.

  • Belgian Embassy

Legalize an English copy of your diploma at a Belgian Embassy in your country (see page 2 document).

  • Apostille

Obtain an original apostille seal on a English copy of your diploma at the appropriate authorities (see page 1 document).

  • Certified Copy

A certified true copy means: an English copy of your diploma that was certified by the awarding university (with stamp or signature) or by a power of law (notary) (see page 3 document)

Scholarship selection process

To award the fee waivers and scholarships, all students will be ranked based on evaluation of their application by an IMSOGLO scholarship selection committee. To set up the scholarship ranking this selection committee takes into account not only previous achievements, motivation and references. Successful candidates who been granted academic admittance will receive a letter of admission, signed by the Registrar of Ghent University, in the name of the IMSOGLO consortium. All students will be notified of their academic admission by receiving a Letter of Admission.

Scholarship nominees are informed shortly after March 16th.
