Scholarships and fees

Programme participation cost

The programme participation cost must be paid yearly prior to enrolment and includes tuition fees, insurance and participation in all teaching activities of the programme, including lab courses, excursions, and the master thesis research.

4,500 euro per year

for nationals of European Economic Area (EEA) countries (all EU countries + Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway)

9,000 euro per year

for nationals of non-EEA countries (all other nationalities)

Erasmus Mundus Scholarship holders don’t pay the programme participation cost.

Other costs

The estimated total cost of the IMSOGLO programme for self-funding students is approximately 38,000 euro for students from EEA countries and 47,000 euro for students from non-EEA countries:

Students from European Economic Area (EEA) countries: approximately 35,000 euro for the 2 year programme

  • 9,000 euro programme participation cost
  • 24,000 euro living expenses (1,000 euro per month)
  • Up to 2,000 euro travel to/from/within Europe 

Students non-European Economic Area (non-EEA) countries:
approximately 45,000 euro for the 2 year programme

  • 18,000 euro programme participation cost 
  • 24,000 euro living expenses (1,000 euro per month)
  • Up to 3,000 euro travel to/from/within Europe

Scholarships

IMSOGLO offers Erasmus Mundus Scholarships for student intake September 2025.

  • Erasmus Mundus Scholarship holders receive a monthly allowance of 1,400 euro during maximum 24 months of study
  • The monthly allowance should cover all costs related to travel, accommodation and other living expenses
  • Erasmus Mundus Scholarship holders are exempted to pay programme participation cost (including registration to the mandatory medical, assistance, accident, baggage, personal liability insurance)
  • Students from all nationalities can apply for an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship

The deadline to apply for an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for student intake 2024 is 28 February 2025.

The IMSOGLO Student Selection Group, with representatives of all partner universities, awards scholarships by ranking all applications based on previous academic achievements, CV, and motivation. Applicants will be notified about the outcome of the scholarship selection before April 2025.

Appeal

If you would not agree with the outcome of the IMSOGLO Student Selection Group, an appeal can be filed to imsoglo@ugent.be. The decision of the Selection Group will not be changed unless the applicant can prove that the Committee made an objective mistake during evaluating the candidate.

Students with special needs

IMSOGLO offers financial contributions to students with special needs. They will be used for enrolled students (with or without Erasmus Mundus scholarship) with disabilities (e.g. long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments), such as those related to the acquisition of special items or services (e.g. assistance by third persons, adaptation of work environment, additional travel/transportation costs).
